WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) today released the following statement after the President and Congressional Democrats celebrated their radical tax-and-spending package hours after the Consumer Price Index remained above 8%, a near 40-year high.
“It’s deeply ironic for the President to spike the football on his tax-and-spending bill the same day reports indicate inflation outpaced expectations and remained at a near-record high. Americans continue to pay more and get less, but the President’s only solutions are the same policies that helped bring us here in the first place. Democrats may be celebrating more runaway spending, but the American families who just saw food, rent, and electricity rise at their fastest rates in more than thirty years certainly aren’t joining him in doing so.”
