WASHINGTON, D.C. — Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) today released the following statement after voting against the Continuing Resolution.

“Congress has a responsibility to fully fund the government by September 30. But for 25 years, Congress has failed to accomplish this basic task, instead relying on a patchwork of massive omnibus bills and Continuing Resolutions to keep the wheels greased while members go on vacation and abdicate doing their jobs.

“To no one’s surprise, this year isn’t any different. Fresh off a six week vacation, Congress has decided to punt government funding to December so members can take yet another six week vacation before the election. It’s egregious, particularly considering the same reckless spending we’re voting to continue has helped fuel the rampant inflation that’s crushing American families.

“A new Republican majority must work to not only restore fiscal sanity, but also end this troubling cycle of Continuing Resolutions.”
