WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) today released the following statement after the Consumer Price Index (CPI), a key inflation index,
soared to its highest rate in more than 40 years.
“Inflation has gone up every month of the Biden presidency and just hit another 40-year high. But according to the President, we should blame anyone but him. First it was meat packers and shipping companies, then it was energy suppliers, and now it’s Putin. Wisconsinites don’t buy President Biden’s inflation blame game.
“The reality is that the Biden administration started a war on American energy the day they took office and used the pandemic as an excuse to enact a reckless social spending agenda that has helped create this economic crisis. President Biden needs to come back to the middle – just as he promised in 2020 – and reject the insanity of the radical left in Washington, or else Americans will continue to pay the price.”
