WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) today released the following statement after Speaker Pelosi extended proxy voting through May 14, 2022.
“It’s deeply ironic that Speaker Pelosi opted to extend proxy voting on the same day she re-opened the Capitol for tours. If you didn’t realize this before, it’s obvious now: proxy voting isn’t about the pandemic, it’s about power. As long as Speaker Pelosi needs votes for her radical agenda, she’ll continue to allow members to abuse proxy voting and avoid doing the bare minimum of their jobs.”
Earlier this month, Rep. Gallagher testified before the House Rules Committee and outlined how members of Congress are lying and abusing proxy voting. Click HERE to watch his testimony.
Rep. Gallagher has consistently called proxy voting unconstitutional, arguing that it makes Congress non-essential and is being exploited by members of Congress. He introduced a resolution last year that would end proxy voting.
