Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Ron Kind announced that Wisconsin received a historic $246.3 million to help families struggling with the costs of home heating this winter through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). This investment is more than double Wisconsin’s typical annual funding and was provided through annual appropriations and the American Rescue Plan, which Rep. Kind voted for in 2021.

“As Wisconsin continues to cope with the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, I’m glad to see the American Rescue Plan working to provide relief. This funding will go a long way towards helping hard-working families keep the heat on and stay safe this winter,” said Rep. Ron Kind

In December 2021, Rep. Kind joined a bicameral letter calling on the Administration to provide strong support for LIHEAP as state agencies and grantees prepare their winter programs.

Wisconsin families who need assistance can call 1-866-HEATWIS (432-8947) or visit http://homeenergyplus.wi.gov for more information.
