Congresswoman Gwen Moore Statement on the confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court

“Today, the United States Senate voted, with bipartisan support, to confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court. In this moment, we celebrate her talent, brilliance, and experience. Justice Jackson’s confirmation has made history and is a barrier-breaking milestone that we should all celebrate.
During her confirmation hearings, Justice Jackson displayed excellent judicial temperament as she faced GOP Senators trying to put on a political show for their base. She showed the nation what makes her so qualified to serve on the highest court in the land.
Justice Jackson will be an asset to the U.S. Supreme Court because of both her real-world and impeccable professional experience. Justice Jackson’s life story and career is a testament to her commitment to serve her country in the pursuit of fairness and truth. From her work as a public defender to her time serving on the U.S. Sentencing Commission, Justice Jackson has shown a commitment to help those with the least resources in our society, showing that her moral compass is centered on pursuing fairness in our justice system.
