WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Bryan Steil (WI-01), Ranking Member on the House Administration Subcommittee on Elections, released a statement in response to President Biden’s speech in Georgia promoting legislation to federalize our elections.
“President Biden’s speech today continued to push the myth that Republicans are working to restrict voting rights. Republicans are working to improve election integrity. The legislation President Biden is advocating for would gut voter ID laws, would allow ballots to be counted seven days after the election, and would utilize government funds for politicians’ re-election campaigns. Instead of centralizing our elections in Washington, DC and further weakening important voter integrity provisions, my priority is to strengthen election integrity. We must make it easy to vote and hard to cheat.”
