“We are excited to host ‘Take Back the Night’ on the UW-Green Bay campus for the second year,” said Caitlin Henriksen, UW-Green Bay health educator for Sexual Violence Prevention with the Wellness Center. “Survivors share their stories and realize they’re supported and not alone in their experiences. Resources, both on and off campus, are highlighted for survivors to seek additional help. Take Back the Night sends a clear message that sexual violence will not be tolerated at the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay.”

The UW-Green Bay Healthy Choices Task Force provides programs and activities which help students make informed choices about their lifestyle and behaviors. Programs focus on topics such as: domestic/sexual violence, marijuana and other drug use prevention and awareness, alcohol use prevention and facts, bystander intervention, wellness, mental health and suicide prevention.

The Wellness Center on the UW-Green Bay campus offers free counseling to all students and provides safe reporting options for sexual assault victims.‘Take Back the Night’ is an international movement that empowers communities to fight back against sexual and interpersonal violence. Marching shows support for survivors and shares resources, while showing the community that violence will not be tolerated here. This year is also the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Title IX, which provides protections to survivors of interpersonal violence.

Take Back the Night Foundation’s global mission is to end all forms of sexual violence, including sexual assault, sexual abuse, trafficking, stalking, gender harassment, and relationship violence, and to support survivors in their healing journeys. Their movement is the oldest worldwide movement to stand against sexual assault.
