MILWAUKEE_ The Republican Party will decide this week whether it will hold its 2024 convention in Milwaukee when the full Republican National Committee meets Aug. 2-5. The announcement comes after a site selection panel in July chose Milwaukee as the likely host city for the Republican National Convention.
UWM faculty members can assist reporters covering topics related to the outcome.
·     Kathleen Dolan can discuss how the announcement might affect high-profile campaigns this fall in Wisconsin for U.S. Senate and governor. She can also talk about the midterm elections overall this fall with control of the Senate and House at stake.
·     Thomas Holbrook can answer questions about potential political calculations behind the RNC’s decision and what it might mean for both parties. He can also discuss the influence that presidential nomination conventions have on election campaigns.
·     Michael Farrell can discuss how much the Milwaukee economy stands to benefit from the city hosting the RNC, including which sectors could see the bulk of the profits and what the potential costs might be.
