The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point will host the UW System Board of Regents April 7-8 on the Stevens Point campus, for the first time in eight years.
This is an opportunity to showcase both the campus and community, said Chancellor Thomas Gibson. “We look forward to sharing how UW-Stevens Point transforms lives through the delivery of a purpose-driven education.”
The Board of Regents is the governing body of the UW System. It establishes policies and rules, plans for meeting future state needs for collegiate education, sets admission standards, and reviews and approves university budgets. The Board appoints the president of the university system and the chancellors of the 13 universities. It has 18 members, 16 of whom are appointed by the governor. A UW-Stevens Point student is one of two UW System students serving on the board.
Regents, chancellors and UW System leaders will attend. In addition to conducting business as outlined in an agenda available April 4, they will hear from students, faculty and UW-Stevens Point leaders.
As the host campus, UW-Stevens Point leaders and students give brief presentations during the committee meetings. The chancellor presents Thursday about what distinguishes UW-Stevens Point and how faculty, staff and community partners help students discover and fulfill their purpose as global citizens in a diverse, sustainable world.
