Derrick Van Orden released the following statement following his passing:
Tonight, we grieve with Cheryl, the Cramer family, the people of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and the United States. Sheriff Ron Cramer served honorably for 47 years, working to keep Wisconsin families safe.
Our first responders are the reason we can sleep soundly at night, and Sheriff Cramer embodied that commitment to public safety.
His loss is a terrible blow for this community and the law enforcement community will keep his memory alive through their commitment to service.
