Voting is cause for celebration, and we’re excited to share the story of Celeste Garcia, who voted for the very first time this morning!
Celeste, 18 years old and from Milwaukee, comes from a mixed-status family. She told us she exercised her right to vote today because, “I want my vote to count. Voting is important because my parents and family have been in Milwaukee for over 20 years and it’s important for me to vote for someone who will best represent my parents and other families with mixed status backgrounds. If you’re eligible to vote, I encourage you to do so. Voting is a way to be the voice for others who cannot vote themselves. Together we can elect candidates who best represent our communities and who we will be able to hold accountable.”
