BROOKFIELD – Conservative lieutenant governor candidate and longtime Ron Johnson aide Ben Voelkel commented Tuesday on updated Legislative Fiscal Bureau budget projections that show an increase in the expected surplus:

“Today’s budget news makes it that much easier for conservatives to take money away from Madison and give it back to hard-working taxpayers by eliminating the state’s income tax. Working families deserve to keep more of their own money, and the entire state will benefit from Wisconsin being a nationally-competitive place to live, work and raise a family.”

Ben supports bold reforms like eliminating the state income tax to make Wisconsin one of just 10 states in the country without one. A recent study noted Wisconsin currently has one of the highest state income tax levels in the country.
