(Waukesha, WI) – Waukesha County Parks staff along with Johnson’s Nursery, Inc. and numerous volunteers will be planting over 300 trees in honor of Arbor Day at Minooka Park on Friday, April 29 between 9 a.m. and noon. Minooka Park is located at 1927 E. Sunset Drive in Waukesha.
“It’s great to be adding native trees to our park system with Johnson’s Nursery once again this Arbor Day,” said County Executive Paul Farrow. “These trees provide crucial habitat for wildlife and enhance the beauty of our parks too.”
Over 50 registered volunteers will assist park staff in the planting of 21 trees and shrubs donated from Johnson’s Nursery, Inc. and about 300 native tree seedlings from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Nursery. The Arbor Day volunteer event reached capacity in early April and is not taking additional sign ups this year.
The area of Minooka Park being planted will grow into an educational forest area adjacent to the yellow trail that will provide visitors with additional information about the native trees from Johnson’s Nursery.
