MADISON, Wisc. – Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA) has promoted Shreedhar Ranabhat to serve as director of commercial lending. The commercial lending team focuses on deploying capital and resources to finance multifamily affordable housing and business development projects throughout the State of Wisconsin. Ranabhat’s team is responsible for reviewing and allocating housing tax credits and administering the financing cycle, including application processing, underwriting, closing, construction, and loan conversion.

Ranabhat has spent 15 years with WHEDA. He served in a variety of positions from 2003-2014 before leaving for a brief stint at Forward Community Investments (FCI) as a Community Lending Director from 2014-16 and with a large developer from 2016-18. He rejoined WHEDA in 2018. Ranabhat began his career as an Asset Manager with The Alexander Company, a Madison-based full-service private real estate development company. His role included placing permanent loans, equity restructuring, and fulfilling overall general partnership responsibilities.

“Shreedhar has been a tremendous asset to our commercial lending team in the last three years using his vast knowledge in multifamily development and lending,” said WHEDA CEO Elmer Moore, Jr. “As a member of our senior leadership team, he will continue to help fulfill WHEDAs mission to provide much-needed affordable housing to all residents throughout Wisconsin.”

“Housing provides stability in people’s lives by offering a sense of belonging within the community. It lays the foundation for raising families and providing opportunities to grow, connect, and build relationships,” said Ranabhat. “I’m excited to leverage my years of experience to continue expanding affordable housing in urban and rural markets.” Ranabhat earned his master’s degree in urban and regional planning from UW-Madison.
