Milwaukee, Wis. – February 1, 2022 – Ron Wimmer of Wimmer Photography in Wauwatosa, Wis. has earned the Master of Photography degree (M.Photog.) from Professional Photographers of America (PPA). The degree was presented to Wimmer by PPA president Mary Fisk-Taylor, M.Photog Cr, CPP, API, EA-ASP at the association’s annual convention, Imaging USA, held in National Harbor, Maryland January 16-18, 2022.

The Master of Photography degree is not merely a piece of paper. It means that Wimmer has met the standards of excellence set by PPA. He has been awarded this degree in recognition of his superior photographic competence demonstrated through photographic competition, advanced education, and service to the profession.

Ron Wimmer said, “I’m so excited to have earned this degree. It’s been a lifetime goal of mine. The growth I have gone through creatively, in this process, has been truly amazing. I’ve learned so much. And now I can carry that knowledge and creativity forward into my work for my clientele.”

In 2021, Wimmer was chosen as one of Wisconsin’s Top Ten Photographers. He also won “Best High School Senior Male Portrait” from the WPPA in 2017. The portrait is highlighted in the WPPA’s Elite Collection.

Early on, Wimmer joined the U.S. Navy and became a naval photographer for five years. Traveling the world via aircraft carrier, Wimmer photographed in several foreign countries, including being catapulted and landing (recovered) aboard an aircraft carrier. Photographing out of helicopters was a favorite. He’s a former president of the South Eastern Professional Photographers Association and a member of the Wisconsin Professional Photographers Association.
