Please see below for County Executive Jon Doemel’s statement on the resignation of Winnebago County District Attorney Christian Gossett:
I want to thank Christian for his years of leadership to Winnebago County. He has been a fierce advocate for reforming the criminal justice system. Christian is a true believer in bettering the person to help reduce recidivism and solve root problems. Christian has been a pioneer in diversion programming. Winnebago County has been a leader in the country.
Christian has been a key supporter of mine throughout the last year. He has been a listening ear and has provided numerous ideas for transformation in the county. I fully expect Christian to be an advisor of mine for many years to come – whether I solicit his feedback or not. We all know Christian is not shy when sharing his opinion.
I wish Christian and his family the best of luck in all of their future endeavors.
