The Better Business Bureau Serving Wisconsin Students of Integrity Scholarship program is now accepting applications from Wisconsin high school seniors.

To be eligible for this award, the applicant must be a high school senior, a Wisconsin state resident, and plan to attend a Wisconsin-based accredited Higher Education Institution (two or four year) in the fall of 2023.

The most important part of the application is the student’s personal essay submission. Each student is asked to write an essay that describes a unique situation where the student’s moral convictions and personal ethics were challenged, and how the student made the decision despite possible consequences. The essay must emphasize how the student demonstrates matured ethical leadership at a young age. Applicants must also submit two letters of recommendation from an advisor or community member. Community involvement, volunteer activities, awards and honors, are all considered by a panel of judges.

Ella Borgwardt, a 2022 BBB Students of Integrity Scholarship Winner said in her essay, “The core of integrity is selflessness, which is why it is so difficult to achieve. But, by making ethical choices, we gain peoples trust and are better able to serve others.”

Since 2010, BBB Serving Wisconsin has provided scholarship gifts totaling more than $255,000 to Wisconsin high school students who have demonstrated character, leadership, and ethical values. Provided by the generous support of ethical Wisconsin businesses and personal donors, the scholarship provides the opportunity for these future leaders to continue their education beyond high school at an accredited college.

As the scholarship recipients pursue their careers, BBB Serving Wisconsin hopes to develop future business leaders who will promote ethics in the Wisconsin marketplace.

“The BBB Students of Integrity Scholarship program is one of the most cherished programs BBB provides to our local community. Supporting these outstanding students and assisting them with their bright futures is one of the most rewarding aspects of the work we do at BBB every day,” said Julie Albrecht, Executive Director of the BBB of Wisconsin Foundation.

Two of the BBB scholarships will be designated specifically for high school seniors within the Milwaukee Public School District and two scholarships will also be awarded to students planning to attend two-year colleges or technical schools.

Completed applications are due on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 by 4:00pm CT.
