MADISON – Wisconsin Conservation Voters thanks Gov. Tony Evers, the Department of Natural Resources, and Rep. Katrina Shankland for working together to expand the Well Compensation Grant Program and deliver $10 million in new funds for private well owners facing contamination from nitrate, arsenic, and bacteria.
Kerry Schumann, Executive Director, had this to say about today’s announcement:
“Every Wisconsinite deserves to know the water coming out of their tap is clean and safe to drink. After the Wisconsin legislature once again failed to deliver meaningful protections against contamination, Gov. Evers is putting public health first and delivering for the approximately one-third of Wisconsinites who get their drinking water from private wells.”
