MADISON –The Volunteers for Agriculture® Committee has endorsed Eric Toney for Attorney General in the November 8 election. VFA is the political action arm of the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation.

“Eric Toney understands that farmers work hard to abide by the law while being good stewards of the environment, an understanding that will serve Wisconsin agriculture well in our next Attorney General. He also understands that agriculture is the backbone of Wisconsin’s economy,” said WFBF Governmental Relations Innovation and Engagement Strategist Karen Gefvert. “This understanding as well as his dedication to uphold the law and commitment to public safety are key components that led to his support by the Volunteers for Agriculture.”

Formed to give farmers a direct role in electing leaders with agriculture’s best interests in mind, the Volunteers for Agriculture Committee is made up of 18 farmers appointed by the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation’s Board of Directors.

“Furthermore, Eric understands that the Department of Justice is responsible for upholding the law, not creating it,” added Gefvert. “His legal insight will provide certainty and predictability for farmers by ensuring agencies stay within their legal bounds and don’t exceed their regulatory authority.”

The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation is the state’s largest general farm organization, representing farms of every size, commodity and management style.
