The Wisconsin Grocers Association (WGA) has announced the election of new officers to serve its Board of Directors as follows: Jim Hyland, Roundy’s/Kroger – Chair; Bob Jaskolski, Trig’s – Vice Chair; and Kevin Metcalfe, Metcalfe’s Market – Secretary/Treasurer (additional information on each officer below).

WGA officers serve for a term of one year. At each of the WGA Board meetings, the Board review programs and activities of the association including events, membership programs, services and benefits and government affairs efforts. The board oversees WGA finances, personnel matters, communications and operating activities.

James Hyland is the Vice President of Communications & Public Affairs for Roundy’s Supermarkets, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Kroger Co., and is the chief spokesperson for the company. Roundy’s operates 150 retail grocery stores under the Pick ’n Save, Metro Market, and Mariano’s retail banners in Wisconsin and Illinois. Hyland combines a strong financial background and over 30 years’ experience in designing and executing highly effective communications strategies for Fortune 500 and 1000 industry-leading companies.

Bob Jaskolski is currently the President and CEO at T.A. Solberg Co., Inc., where he is responsible for 8 Trig’s store locations and the many businesses that make up the T.A. Solberg Company. Prior to his position at T.A. Solberg Co., Inc., Jaskolski held a variety of positions at Supervalu over 30+ years. Currently Bob also serves on the National Grocers Association Board of Directors and Chairs the Audit Committee.

Kevin Metcalfe is Vice President and Owner of Metcalfe’s Market. Metcalfe started his career in the family grocery business as a 4th generation grocer in 1989. Metcalfe is a member of the Wisconsin Grocers Association, the Wisconsin Realtors Association, and Past President of the Monona Exchange Club. Metcalfe was named the Wisconsin Grocers Association Grocer of the Year in 2012 and has been active in the Monona community as a former City Alder, Planning Commission Co-Chair and Chamber Board Member.

The Board thanked outgoing officers for their leadership during a challenging time for the grocery industry.  The Board recognized Michelle Harrington (Chair), Delafield Sentry and Jeff Tate (Secretary/Treasurer), Watertown and Waterloo Piggly Wiggly.  Jim Hyland of Roundy’s served as Vice Chair.  The WGA Board meets quarterly.
