The Wisconsin Historical Society announces the designation of the city of Reedsburg in Sauk County as the state’s newest Certified Local Government (CLG). Seventy-five local governments in Wisconsin are now certified under the CLG program.
The CLG program is a voluntary partnership program between local governments, the State Historic Preservation Office and the National Park Service. CLG communities in Wisconsin have access to grant funding for historic preservation planning projects and expertise and policy guidance from the State Historic Preservation Office. To become a certified partner, Reedsburg adopted a local historic preservation ordinance that meets recognized standards for an effective local preservation program, and created a Historic Preservation Commission to administer the ordinance.
