MADISON, Wis. – Late last night, every Wisconsin Republican in Congress voted against the Infant Formula Supplemental Appropriations Act, which would provide emergency funding to address the shortage of infant formula in the United States. Every Wisconsin Democrat voted for the bill.

In response to Wisconsin Republicans refusing to address this nationwide shortage, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler released the following statement:

“While Wisconsin Democrats have been laser-focused on lowering costs for working families and took action to pass legislation that will address the baby formula crisis, Wisconsin Republicans in Congress are willfully failing the parents and families across our state who are impacted by this shortage. The Wisconsin Republican Party is even worse than ‘all talk and no action’ – Republican politicians are feigning outrage about problems and then actively voting to block Democrats from addressing those very problems. In what is becoming an unfortunate pattern, the Wisconsin GOP’s only focus is exploiting families’ struggles for their own political gain, and Wisconsinites are suffering as a result.”

This latest “no” vote can be added to a laundry list of times that Wisconsin Republicans have voted against cost-saving legislation. Earlier this year, 193 House Republicans, including every Wisconsin Republican in Congress, voted against capping the cost of insulin at $35 a month, while every Wisconsin Democrat supported the bill.
