“In a race that many observers wrote off months ago, Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes soared above expectations and came within a hair’s breadth of defeating a two-term Republican incumbent in a midterm with a Democratic president. In the process, he inspired and energized voters across generation, race, and geography, helping ensure a victory in the governor’s race and prevention of Republican supermajorities in the state legislature. Working people in Wisconsin knew they had a champion on the ballot in Mandela Barnes. While Lt. Gov. Barnes fell just short of flipping a Senate seat, he, his tremendous campaign team, and his dedicated supporters and allies have earned the gratitude of Wisconsinites and anyone who believes in democracy for their tireless work to lift up Wisconsin’s best values against overwhelming odds.”
