Ron Johnson: “I would support voting for full repeal in a heartbeat.”
MADISON, Wis. – During a tele-town hall last night, Ron Johnson tried to hide his record when he was confronted by a Wisconsinite about the need to protect coverage for people with pre-existing conditions. Johnson falsely claimed he wants to “protect people with pre-existing conditions,” despite previously and repeatedly saying he “would support voting for full repeal in a heartbeat.”
- By supporting a repeal of the Affordable Care Act, Johnson tried to strip coverage from hundreds of thousands of Wisconsinites who get insurance through the marketplace and remove protections from 883,000 Wisconsinites with pre-existing conditions.
- Despite the harmful impacts repealing the Affordable Care Act would have for Wisconsinites, Johnson has doubled down and said he would repeal it “in a heartbeat.”
- When given the opportunity to stand up for Wisconsin families or leave them out to dry, Johnson was the deciding vote to push forward legislation that would repeal the Affordable Care Act, despite there not being a full replacement.
“Ron Johnson will say anything to try to stay in DC, where he has focused entirely on enriching himself and has ignored Wisconsinites at every turn,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Senate Communications Advisor Philip Shulman.
