MADISON, Wis. – In a new interview, Ron Johnson doubled down on his self-serving agenda of raising health care costs and ripping away key protections from Wisconsinites. Johnson, who has made it a key priority to repeal the Affordable Care Act, outright admitted that if Wisconsinites re-elect him, he and his political allies will continue their assault on health care.
“Ron Johnson broke his two term pledge to double down on his self-serving agenda of raising health care costs and ripping away protections for Wisconsinites with pre-existing conditions,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Senate Communications Advisor Philip Shulman said.
- Johnson believes health care is a “privilege” and not a right.
- Has continuously bragged about and touted efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
- Specifically pushed to allow insurers to go back to denying people coverage or jacking up costs for having pre-existing conditions.
- Stated that if the Supreme Court won’t overturn the ACA, Congress should do so.
- Despite the harmful impacts repealing the Affordable Care Act would have for Wisconsinites, Johnson has doubled down and said he would repeal it “in a heartbeat.”
- When given the opportunity to stand up for Wisconsin families or leave them out to dry, Johnson was even a deciding vote to push forward legislation that would repeal the Affordable Care Act, despite there not being a full replacement.
