Madison, Wis. – Today, Ron Johnson was faced with the question of what his party is for and refused to specify. Unfortunately for Johnson, his actions speak louder than his words.
Here are the specifics on Johnson’s self-serving agenda:
- Raising health care costs on Wisconsinites. Johnson worked to gut protections for pre-existing conditions and voted against bipartisan legislation that would prevent surprise emergency medical bills.
- Enriching himself and his political donors. Johnson personally changed the 2017 tax law that benefitted himself and gave two of his largest political donors a $215 million tax handout. Johnson’s own net worth has roughly doubled since taking office. All the while, Johnson voted against tax cuts for working families.
- Standing against Wisconsin jobs. Johnson tried to stop a bipartisan infrastructure bill that created good paying jobs, voted for the GOP tax bill that rewarded companies that outsource jobs and “fought as hard as he could” against a bill cracking down on China’s illicit economic practices.
“Ron Johnson doesn’t want to be honest with Wisconsinites because he knows his self-serving agenda has left them behind,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Senate Communications Advisor Philip Shulman.
