MADISON, Wis. – Thanks to historic leadership from President Biden, Governor Evers, and Democrats in Congress, all children ages six months to five years old can now get vaccinated against COVID-19.

Late last week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Center for Disease Control authorized and recommended the use of this life-saving vaccine for young kids, bringing peace of mind to millions of parents and families across the country. In tandem with this announcement, the Biden-Harris administration launched a nationwide effort to ensure pharmacies, pediatricians, and other trusted providers have enough vaccine supply for every family across the country.

This progress comes after Democrats’ American Rescue Plan provided critical funding to support Wisconsin’s rural health clinics, ensure equitable vaccine distribution, and help Wisconsinites safely return to work and school. Under Gov. Evers’ leadership, Wisconsin’s vaccination rollout was consistently ranked among the most efficient in the nation. This funding happened without the support of a single Republican in Congress and comes as Republican politicians continue to undermine the severity of this virus by ignoring science and attacking public health officials.

“Thanks to leadership from President Biden and Governor Evers, parents like myself are breathing a sigh of relief and making a plan to get their youngest children vaccinated,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler. “When these same parents head to the ballot box this fall, they won’t forget that Republican lawmakers put politics over their children’s health, safety, and protection against this virus.”
