MADISON, Wis. – Tim Michels claims there was no “quid pro quo” in his endorsement from Donald Trump, particularly regarding perpetuating 2020 election lies. Sadly, the truth hurts.

Donald Trump went to Truth Social to share what he really thinks about Michels’ performance these last few weeks:

Michels has been moving to the far right to pander to Trump since he entered the race. He has said that “President Trump probably would be president right now if we had election integrity” and minimized January 6 as merely people experiencing “frustration over the election results.”

Guess that is not enough for Trump, who has been insistent that Wisconsin Republicans also need to completely decertify the 2020 election. Michels has recently indicated he’s open to doing just that, saying he’d “need to see the details.”

“Donald Trump is once again perpetuating lies about the 2020 election, and he’s expecting his hand-picked candidate Tim Michels to follow along,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Rapid Response Director Hannah Menchhoff. “Tim Michels has refused to answer on whether he’d certify the 2024 election and said he ‘need[ed] to see the details’ of a bill to decertify Wisconsin’s 2020 election. The facts are clear: Tim Michels is radically wrong for Wisconsin.”
