MADISON, Wis. — Earlier today, Senator Tammy Baldwin, Congressman Mark Pocan, and the leadership of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin highlighted the successes of President Biden’s first year in office ahead of the one-year anniversary of his inauguration tomorrow.

From getting shots in arms and putting checks in pockets to passing the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, speakers on the call detailed how the Biden-Harris administration has delivered for working families and helped Wisconsin build back better, including how:

  • 200 million Americans are fully vaccinated, almost 75% of all adults;
  • 96% of schools are open;
  • Unemployment is down to 3.9%, two years faster than projected;
  • 6.4 million jobs were created last year – more in one year than ever on record; and
  • Economic growth is the strongest in two generations.

Here’s what Wisconsin Democrats had to say about the Biden-Harris administration’s successes over the last year:

Senator Tammy Baldwin:

“When I think about the vision [of the instraucture plan], it was not just another transportation bill. It wasn’t just an annual appropriations bill. This has the vision to get us to lead the world with our infrastructure… The vision of this infrastructure bill is to get everyone access to affordable broadband and to get all of our drinking water systems up to par… clean water, clean drinking water and clean water in our environment is the vision.”

Congressman Mark Pocan:

“We have seen this administration get a lot done, with a lot of challenges – having COVID continue to change and present new challenges to the American people, having a Republican Congress that denies what their eyes saw on January 6 and still waits for smoke signals to come out of Mar-a-Lago on what they should think or do. It’s been a very difficult year, and the Biden administration got an awful lot done. Those two bills alone [the American Rescue Plan and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law] are really important to highlight that very direct benefit to the American people.”

Ben Wikler, WisDems Chair:

“We’re celebrating a year of historic firsts thanks to President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Democrats in Congress working together to get things done for Wisconsin’s working families. Democrats are delivering.”

Felesia Martin, WisDems Vice Chair and Milwaukee County Supervisor:

“President Biden and Vice President Harris took office amid several crises on all fronts, and promised to move quickly to deliver results for working families – and that’s just what they’ve done.”
