MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin Democratic Party Chair Ben Wikler released the following statement in response to Sen. Brad Pfaff’s election as the Democratic nominee for Congress in the 3rd District:

“The Democratic Party of Wisconsin is thrilled to congratulate Brad Pfaff on winning last night’s primary and emerging as our nominee to defeat Derrick Van Orden in one of the most critical House races in the country. Raised on his family’s dairy farm in northern La Crosse County, Brad Pfaff will never stop fighting for the people of western Wisconsin and the issues that matter. Throughout his career, Brad has dedicated himself to the work of building strong rural communities and family farms, from his service with the USDA Farm Service Agency, to his leadership of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection. As Congressman, Brad will continue his lifetime of service in support of small businesses, family farms, neighborhood public schools and clean air and water for all of western Wisconsin.

“The people of Wisconsin’s 3rd District deserve better than Derrick Van Orden, a far-right extremist who crossed police lines on January 6th to watch – for entertainment – as our Capitol and our democracy were criminally attacked on January 6th. From boasting about committing sexual harassment to bullying a teenage volunteer at a public library, Derrick Van Orden has proven time and again he lacks the temperament, values, and judgement to serve western Wisconsin in Congress.

“Working families and family farmers in the 3rd District deserve a leader, not Twitter tantrums, divisive political attacks, and meltdowns at the public library. Brad Pfaff is a leader who will always stand and fight for the people and values that make western Wisconsin great.”
