MADISON, Wis. – Today, ahead of the Wisconsin GOP’s state convention this weekend, Congressman Mark Pocan, OB-GYN Dr. Kristin Lyerly, and President of the Wisconsin South Central Federation of Labor Kevin Gundlach blasted Ron Johnson and his self-serving agenda.

Congressman Mark Pocan: “Ron Johnson is busy playing a doctor, the only problem is about as close as he’ll ever get to a doctor is via Dr. Pepper, because he doesn’t have meaning or skills in this area … The idea that he wants to get rid of the Affordable Care Act and cost thousands of thousands of thousands of people in Wisconsin their health care and make everyone have to pay more, because that’s exactly what would happen … Ron Johnson does a really good job for Ron Johnson, but not so much for the rest of the people in Wisconsin.”

OB-GYN Dr. Kristin Lyerly: “Politics and politicians have no place in my exam room. Unfortunately, Senator Johnson and his Republican allies in the Senate just don’t agree … I can say that without a shadow of a doubt, people will still seek out and receive abortions. These people are our neighbors, and you know them. Senator Ron Johnson has shown us that he will literally say or do anything to fulfill his self-serving agenda, even if that means endangering lives by taking away our basic human rights.”

President of the Wisconsin South Central Federation of Labor, AFL-CIO Kevin Gundlach: “We’re here to call out the Republican Party [of] Wisconsin that has completely abandoned working Wisconsinites. And who is their lead culprit, Ron Johnson, who’s been a threat to our livelihood, as he’s fully focused on a self serving agenda, and not what’s best for us, the workers of Wisconsin … He voted to take away the protections for pre-existing conditions that so many workers rely on when it comes to having affordable health care. And, I like to add that he has done nothing to make the situation better. Instead of trying to lower costs, he’s been taking steps that would raise costs and has continuously praised Big Pharma and their profiteering tactics. Senator Ron Johnson has proven he’s not up to the task. And I know myself and the working Wisconsinites from across the state of Wisconsin will be voting for a candidate who has our backs and that’s not him.”
