The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is proposing improvements on US 14 in Dane County. The project extends approximately 6.5 miles in length from south of Madison Beltline (US 12/18) to south of the County MM interchange near Oregon.

The project – tentatively scheduled for construction in 2028 but advanceable to as early as 2025 – would resurface the travel lanes and shoulders for the entire project length. Other work includes minor structure rehabilitation, repair of drainage structures, replacement of beam guard, and upgrading the curb ramps at the US 14 and County MM interchange roundabouts. During construction, US 14 would be reduced to a single lane of traffic each way. Overnight ramp closures will occur when work is nearby an interchange. While the recent construction project in 2020 and 2021 made improvements to some structures along the US 14 corridor, the highway was last resurfaced in 2011.

Information on this project, including a presentation of the improvements, can be found at wisconsindot.gov/Pages/projects/by-region/sw/us14-fitchburg/default.aspx. The public is encouraged to view the presentation and provide input via the online comment form.
