[Madison, WI] – Wisconsin’s top teachers union, WEAC, has lined Tony Evers’ campaign coffers to the tune of over $86,000 since his 2018 campaign, and it’s been a worthwhile investment for the liberal group.

While other state governors led on keeping the schools open, vaccines were available, and even Joe Biden said that students needed to return to the classroom in-person, teachers union bosses made up new reasons to stay home and Tony Evers was silent – suddenly taking the side of local control after years of pushing for bigger state government.

Meanwhile, parents were forced to leave the workforce, children on subsidized lunches weren’t getting fed, and widespread learning loss led to abysmal outcomes. According to DPI’s own data, English language arts proficiency is down by over 16 percent, math proficiency is down by over 20 percent, and just 8 percent of Black students are proficient in math.

“Tony Evers has made clear that he will always serve his teachers union donors at the expense of Wisconsin kids,”
said Republican Party of Wisconsin Communications Director Anna Kelly. “This April Fools’ Day, there is no bigger joke than Tony Evers.”
