While battleground Democrats across the nation are critical of President Biden’s plan to cancel up to $20,000 in student debt, Lieutenant Governor Barnes is in full support. His campaign recently stated that Biden’s plan will “help Wisconsinites” – two-thirds of whom do not have college degrees.
Barnes is a proponent for transferring $20,000 of debt from doctors and lawyers onto the backs of hardworking taxpayers. It’s quite clear that if he didn’t support it, he wouldn’t have the backing of AOC, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and the socialist Working Families Party:
- AOC advocated for more than what Biden proposed.
- Elizabeth Warren, who has been pushing for student loan relief for years, has stated it is “good for our economy” – even though it will cost the taxpayer $300 billion.
- The Working Families Party has stated that Biden’s plan “doesn’t go far enough.”
“Actions speak louder than words. It’s clear that Barnes is in full support of Biden’s plan to cancel student debt and further hike inflation. This is unfair to the students who had already paid off their college debt and the hardworking taxpayers of Wisconsin who are stuck with this burden.” – Republican Party of Wisconsin Rapid Response Director Mike Marinella
