[Appleton, WI] – An audit by the Legislative Audit Bureau shows that millions in funding given out for broadband expansion by the Public Service Commission was never accounted for.

Governor Evers doled out nearly $100 million in ARPA grants and more than $5 million in CARES Act funding for projects around the state. But Evers and his Public Service Commission failed to adequately track that any of the funding actually met its intended purpose.

In response to the audit, the Republican Party of Wisconsin released the following statement.

“This latest failure by Tony Evers and his Public Service Commission to adequately and accurately track the millions of dollars they allocated for broadband service, is just further evidence of his ineptitude as a leader of our state,” said RPW Communications Director Chad Doran. “From his Department of Workforce Development failing to get unemployment funds to out-of-work Wisconsinites during the pandemic, to his Department of Safety and Professional Services creating a months-long backlog of nurses and other professionals waiting for their license to work in our state, Tony Evers continues to show he is not fit to be Governor.”
