[Madison, Wis.] – On Wednesday, in an interview with the editorial board of the Wisconsin State Journal, Tony Evers paid more lip service to crime victims while he and his Parole Commission continue to grant early release to violent criminals across the state.

With multiple polls (including the most recent Marquette Law School Poll) showing that crime is a top issue for voters this election, Tony Evers is trying to rewrite his history as Governor on the topic.“Governor Evers has made clear that his crowded afternoon pickleball schedule is more important to him than keeping our families safe from crime,” said Republican Party of Wisconsin Communications Director Chad Doran.

Evers has spent four years putting in part-time hours as Governor but could not remember when he last spoke to a Milwaukee crime victim’s family. All the while, Wisconsin’s crime statistics have been skyrocketing, but the Parole Commission has continued to pursue Gov. Evers’ goal of releasing half of Wisconsin’s convicted criminals from jail.“No amount of lip service one month from Election Day can make up for Evers’ four years of failure when it comes to listening to crime victims and their families. Tony Evers will abandon his duties and then pander to voters if it means winning re-election: it’s disqualifying and Wisconsinites can see through his smoke and mirrors,” said Doran.
