The state’s largest business group is up with a new TV ad that slams Tony Evers as untrustworthy with the Dem guv touting the tax cuts he’s signed while in office.
The Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce Issues Mobilization Council declined to say how much it’s spending on the ad or where it’s running. The spot is up on broadcast TV.
The spot comes as Evers has made the tax cuts he’s signed a major plank in his reelection bid this fall.
The ad opens with a clip from another ad that praises Evers on tax cuts, calling it “nonsense” and then offering the “truth.”
The narrator says Evers vetoed a middle class tax cut with “one of his very first acts as governor,” tried to raise the gas tax, the cost of electric and heating bills, and the tax on manufacturing jobs. The narrator adds it was more than $1 billion in tax increases.
“That’s why you can’t trust Tony Evers,” the narrator says to close the spot. “Call Gov. Evers. Tell him we can’t afford higher taxes.”
