WI WFP State Director Jake Spence issued the following statement on the results of Tuesday’s Democratic primaries:

“Last night’s progressive gains show an important trend: Democratic voters are showing up for candidates who show up for them. From Summer Lee in Pennsylvania, Charles Booker in Kentucky and Andrea Salinas in Oregon, people are coming together across lines of difference to elect leaders who come from the communities they represent and who are proven fighters for working people, not millionaires and corporate lobbyists. That’s exactly the type of leader Mandela Barnes is, and that’s the type of fighter Wisconsin needs.

Our activists and volunteers are ready to build on last night’s momentum and send Mandela to Washington so he can fight for the future we deserve.”

The Working Families Party is the political party of the multiracial working class, fighting for a nation that cares for all of us. Mandela Barnes is a former WFP National Committee member, and the son of a union teacher and a union autoworker with deep community ties. As Lt. Governor, Mandela Barnes has established himself as a leader on the issues that are driving politics, from COVID relief to racial justice, police accountability, women’s rights to climate change, workers rights to gun safety, voting rights to healthcare to small businesses to the Capitol insurrection.
