U.S. Sen. Baldwin: Urges Federal Highway Administration to prioritize American workers and products

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Baldwin (D-WI) sent a letter to Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Administrator Bhatt strongly urging the agency to end its 40-year waiver that allows them to skirt Buy America rules when constructing highways. “Discontinuing this blanket waiver will begin the long overdue process of developing FHWA’s guidelines for the purchase of American-made manufactured products in Federal-aid highway projects,” wrote Senator Baldwin. “I strongly urge you to discontinue the 1983 manufactured products waiver,” Senator Baldwin continued. MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) confirms that a Sauk County deer farm has tested positive for chronic wasting disease (CWD). The samples were confirmed by the National Veterinary Services Laboratories in Ames, Iowa. The positive result came from a 10-year-old doe.
