Hi, Senator Rob Hutton here.

As the 2023 legislative session gets underway, I want to thank the people of the 5th Senate District for the trust you’ve placed in me. It’s an honor to represent you.

This session features plenty of milestones and challenges. Our state’s record $6.9 billion surplus is both, and the pressure to go back to the reckless spending of the past will be immense.

But Republicans remain committed to the fiscally responsible budgeting that made that surplus possible in the first place.

We have a great opportunity to pass further tax relief and return that surplus to those who earned it – you, the taxpayer and Wisconsin citizen.

As chairman of the Committee on Universities and Revenue, I look forward to doing my part to usher through significant tax reform.

We also have an opportunity to make responsible, targeted investments and reforms to ensure government works better for the people it’s meant to serve.

We will make Wisconsin the most competitive state in the region to live, work, raise a family, and run a business. We’ll make our communities safer. We’ll make sure the next generation has the same opportunities we did.

Wisconsin families, workers and entrepreneurs are the backbone of our state and the keys to its prosperity.

This will again be our priority as this legislative session gets underway. I am optimistic we can find common ground in divided government and score some big wins for the people of Wisconsin.
