Madison, WI – AFSCME Wisconsin proudly celebrates Judge Janet Protasiewicz’s election to the Wisconsin Supreme Court. This victory holds the potential to help Wisconsin reclaim its status as a leader in quality public services and forward-thinking, effective government policy.

The State of Wisconsin once championed workers’ rights and freedoms, providing secure, well-paying jobs and strong labor rights. For more than a decade, these principles have been systematically eroded by politicians and Supreme Court justices with self-serving agendas. Judge Protasiewicz’s election offers an opportunity to reverse this trend and restore Wisconsin’s reputation as a state that values and safeguards the well-being of all its citizens.

AFSCME Wisconsin Executive Director Patrick Wycoff emphasized the importance of this victory, stating, “The voices of Wisconsin’s workers, silenced for too long, will finally have the chance to be heard. This is a turning point for our state.”

AFSCME Wisconsin President Paul Spink added, “Janet Protasiewicz served Milwaukee County with distinction. She knows what it is to serve the public. She knows what it is to protect the vulnerable while respecting both the letter and heart of the law. AFSCME is thrilled to see justice return to Wisconsin’s courts.”

AFSCME Wisconsin acknowledges that one election does not solve all problems and recognizes the long road ahead. Our organization remains steadfast in advocating for working families’ rights and freedoms, committed to overcoming challenges and building a brighter future for all.
