Madison, WI – December 22, 2023 — In a unique and heartwarming display of familial activism, Phil Anderson, a libertarian activist and US Senate candidate, will join forces with his daughter Sasha Anderson, an activist and current Vice President of the Libertarian Party of Dane County, for a Father-Daughter Christmas Day Protest in support of Julian Assange. The demonstration is scheduled to take place from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm in front of Senator Tammy Baldwin’s office on the Capitol Square in Madison.
“The persecution of Julian Assange, for simply publishing facts about what the government and military are doing, proves an obvious antagonism toward people’s right to know, and their ability to make meaningful decisions in a representative system,” Phil Anderson declared. Sasha continues “Our government is supposed to be protecting the rights enumerated in the Constitution, not trying to tear them down. Why won’t Senator Baldwin speak out?”
The Andersons, both Eastern Orthodox Christians, are forgoing part of their Christmas Day to fight for truth and transparency. “We would love to give Julian the gift of freedom, and his wife and kids their husband and father, freed.” continues Phil Anderson. “Maybe on this day, on which many Americans are celebrating and reconnecting with loved ones, Tammy Baldwin’s feeling of constitutional responsibility, or personal conscience, will be activated. What is she afraid of?”
Senator Tammy Baldwin has thus far declined to take a stand on the prosecution of Julian Assange, despite the protests and pleading of citizen 1st Amendment activists.
