Hi folks! Welcome back to Tammy Tuesdays, our weekly update email on Tammy’s work and the big fights she’s taking on for Wisconsin families.

Tammy knows that there’s more that unites us than divides us. She understands that Wisconsin’s working families all want good-paying jobs, affordable healthcare, and the same freedoms their parents and grandparents had.

Read below for highlights of what Tammy worked on this week:

Winning Big for Wisconsin Workers

Everyone knows that Wisconsin has some of the best workers in the world who make everything: paper, engines, tools, ships, beer, brats, cheese, and more. As a proud champion of Made in America and Buy America policies, Tammy is committed to protecting American jobs and building new factories here in Wisconsin.

Last week, Tammy welcomed President Joe Biden to renewable energy manufacturer Ingeteam in Milwaukee to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Tammy was proud to support the IRA, which has already created more than 142,000 clean energy jobs nationwide, and has empowered companies like Ingeteam to expand production and create good-paying jobs in Wisconsin. President Biden praised Tammy’s work to pass the IRA and her constant leadership to champion Made in America policies over the years. Tammy knows that working Wisconsinites are the backbone of our state, and is going to keep working with President Biden to create jobs and support our workers here at home.

Supporting Wisconsin Innovation

Last year, Tammy was proud to help pass the CHIPS and Science Act because of its historic investments in American manufacturing, regional technology hubs, and our second to none manufacturing workforce.

Right now, multiple Wisconsin health technology companies, nonprofits and higher education institutions are seeking to create one of the regional technology hubs funded by the CHIPS and Science Act. Tammy is endorsing the state’s application to secure funding for the technology hub, which would focus on personalized medicine including specific cancer treatments. Having this regional tech hub in Wisconsin would advance the state’s biohealth sector, create good-paying jobs, strengthen supply chains, and establish Wisconsin as a leader in innovative medical care. Tammy knows that Wisconsin is a leader in whatever we do – from health care and manufacturing to agriculture – and she is always going to work hard to do right by our proud Wisconsin job industries and workers.

Fighting for Clean Water

Every Wisconsinite needs access to clean drinking water, and should have peace of mind that their water sources aren’t going to get them sick. However, across the state, lead pipes are still being used to deliver water to Wisconsinites, which opens up risks to lead exposure and harmful health effects.

On Wednesday, Tammy met with Milwaukee leaders to discuss their efforts to replace nearly 66,000 lead pipes. Mayor Cavalier Johnson’s original goal was to replace all the city’s lead pipes within the next seventy years, but after Tammy’s efforts to secure $370 million for lead pipe removals in Wisconsin, Mayor Johnson has moved his goal up to replacing every lead pipe in the city in the next twenty years. Access to safe, clean drinking water is a human right and Tammy is going to keep working hard until every Wisconsinite has access to safe, clean drinking water.

Keeping Wisconsinites Connected

In the digital era, it’s essential that every Wisconsinite has access to reliable high-speed internet. That’s why Tammy has been working harder than ever to invest in our state’s broadband, including recently securing over $1 billion from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to ensure every home and business across the state has access to high-speed internet.

Last week, Tammy visited Cornell, Wisconsin in the Chippewa Valley to talk with Wisconsin families about the importance of broadband in our rural communities. The conversation highlighted the positive impacts of broadband for rural Wisconsinites, including connecting people with their loved ones, helping small businesses thrive, and supporting students who depend on internet access for educational resources. It also emphasized the importance of ensuring every Wisconsinite is connected regardless of where they live. Tammy is going to keep working hard until this goal is achieved because investing in broadband means a stronger Made in Wisconsin economy and a brighter future for the next generation of Wisconsinites.

Standing Up to Big Pharma

Big pharmaceutical companies spend hundreds of millions of dollars a year to lobby politicians so they can keep prices high and rip off our families. It’s not fair that these companies’ CEOs line their pockets at the expense of hard working Americans with no oversight or accountability.

After taking on Big Pharma last year and forcing them to lower drug prices and cap insulin costs at $35 a month for our seniors, Tammy is standing up to them again. Through her bipartisan FAIR Drug Pricing Act, Tammy is working to address these corrupt practices and force pharmaceutical CEOs to be transparent about why they’re increasing their prices. This means that if these companies raise their prices, they would be required to explain exactly why they’re raising prices, whether that’s because they’re increasing advertising or paying their executives more. Tammy is going to keep standing up to Big Pharma until they’re held accountable for their actions and every Wisconsinite has access to the affordable health care they deserve.
