MADISON, Wis. – Family Friendly Wisconsin released the following statement today, celebrating Governor Tony Evers’ budget proposal that centers working families with investments in affordable, quality child care and paid family and medical leave.
Brita Olsen, Family Friendly Wisconsin State Director:
“Last night, Governor Tony Evers made clear that he values the economic wellbeing of working families across the Badger State and is eager to provide families with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive.
“The Governor’s commitment to funding and continuing the Child Care Counts program, which helped to stabilize the child care industry and keep thousands of child care centers open during the pandemic, recognizes that there is more to be done to ensure our child care infrastructure can support both families and providers. Additionally, his proposed paid family and medical leave plan relieves working people of the impossible decisions between earning a paycheck, and taking care of their loved ones or their own health.
“Family Friendly Wisconsin applauds the Governor’s plans to uplift and empower working families through affordable, quality child care, and paid family and medical leave. We encourage lawmakers on the Joint Committee on Finance and in the state legislature to work with Governor Evers to deliver tangible relief to and lower costs for working families across the Badger State.”
