Franklin, WI –Forward Latino, a national non-profit, non-partisan service and advocacy organization headquartered in Franklin, Wisconsin and with affiliates and members in 29 states, applauds Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers for his appointment of Judge Pedro Colón to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals where he will serve out the term of retiring Judge Timothy G. Dugan. Judge Colón will be the first Hispanic to serve on Wisconsin Court of Appeals.
Forward Latino National President Darryl Morin issued the following statement:
“We applaud the Governor’s historic appointment of Judge Pedro Colón to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. After 175 years, the entirety of Wisconsin’s state history, a Hispanic will finally serve on the Court. Judge Colón is a person of outstanding character, integrity, and capacity, with a long record of impartial and just application of the law. Equally important to his experience and legal knowledge, Judge Colón will bring with him the shared experiences of the second largest demographic group in the state of Wisconsin, it’s Hispanic population.
Once again, we applaud Governor Tony Evers for his selection, we thank retiring judge Timothy Dugan for his service to our state and congratulate Judge Pedro Colón on this well-deserved honor and appointment.” About Forward Latino: Forward Latino is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that empowers affiliates to inspire and engage communities, strengthen our democracy, improve the lives of working families, protect the environment, and stand up for equality and civil rights.
