Madison – Following Governor Tony Evers’ annual State of the State address this evening, IRG Action Fund CEO CJ Szafir issued the following statement in response:

“We’ve seen many challenges facing the state, and we still need reforms. With no shortage of problems facing working families in Wisconsin, IRG Action is prepared to work across the aisle to deliver real results for our state.

“We know that passing transformative tax reform remains a priority for so many looking to make ends meet. At a time when the economic forecast is uncertain, we should allow hardworking taxpayers and small businesses across the state to keep more of their hard-earned money – a reform that continues to grow in its popularity.

“We also know that Wisconsin is last in the country for reading proficiency among Black students. Our neighbors deserve to hear constructive ways to fix this on-going problem moving forward.

“Finally, our state government is both bloated and broken – with backlogs leaving too many waiting for government-issued licenses to work and state-run veterans facilities that are failing to provide the basic services our heroes deserve.

“There are many challenges facing the State of Wisconsin, but by working together with legislative leaders and Gov. Evers, IRG Action is committed to reforming state government for the better.”
In the weeks and months ahead, IRG Action will work with leaders to solve the problems in state government that are holding too many Wisconsinites back. Find out more and sign up for updates by visiting www.irgaction.com.
