Chippewa Falls, Wis. – Keep Our Republic has announced former State Senate Chairwoman, Kathy Bernier (R-Chippewa), has been named Wisconsin State Director. In this role, Bernier will lead the organization’s innovative bipartisan hyper-localized civic education efforts.
“We are thrilled to have Kathy Bernier leading the Keep Our Republic effort in Wisconsin,” said Ari Mittleman, Executive Director of Keep Our Republic. “With her wealth of experience and depth of knowledge about election administration, I am confident she will make a tremendous impact on strengthening our nation’s democracy.”
Bernier served in the Wisconsin State Senate from 2019 to 2023, representing Senate District 23. While in the State Senate, Bernier served on several committees and chaired the Committee on Elections, Election Process Reform and Ethics and spoke out against threats to election integrity in Wisconsin and throughout the country in the months following the November 2020 election. She also served in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 2016 to 2018, representing Assembly District 68. In her capacity as a member of the Assembly, Bernier chaired the Committee on Campaigns and Elections.

Born in Eau Claire, Bernier graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, and earned a certificate in Public Management Essentials from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. She also worked as Chippewa County Clerk from 1999 to 2011, overseeing elections.
