LFB: State would have to put another $525M into $1.8B rainy day fund to meet national median

The nearly $1.8 billion the state has stashed away in its rainy day fund is generating about $7 million in earnings each month, according to the Legislative Fiscal Bureau.
While the balance is a far cry from the $1.7 million that was in the budget stabilization fund at the end of the 2009-10 fiscal year, Wisconsin's reserve is still below the national average, LFB noted.
