MADISON – Marsy’s Law for Wisconsin and Wisconsin Department of Justice Hosts 2nd Annual Wisconsin Crime Victims’ Rights Conference
MADISON – Marsy’s Law for Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Department of Justice will host their 2nd annual Crime Victims’ Right Virtual Conference Thursday-Friday, April 20-21. The free, two-day conference is a call to action in understanding, enforcing, and protecting the rights of victims of crime in Wisconsin. The conference is following the celebration of the three-year anniversary of the overwhelming ratification vote of Wisconsin’s crime victims’ constitutional amendment commonly known as Marsy’s Law. The conference is also being held just days in advance of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, which starts Sunday, April 23.
The conference will focus on ensuring crime victims in Wisconsin have equitable access to exercising and enforcing their constitutional and statutory victims’ rights. The two-day event will feature sessions about multi-disciplinary collaborations in supporting crime victims’ rights, innovation in victim services, and wellness for those working with crime victims.
The virtual conference is open to all stakeholders in the criminal justice system, including victim attorneys, prosecutors and defense attorneys, judges, community advocates, victim-witness coordinators, and survivors. Those interested in participating can sign up at the conference website found here.
The conference will include presentations Attorney General Josh Kaul, Assistant Dane County District Attorney Michelle Viste, President of the Wisconsin District Attorney Association and Fond Du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney, Congressman Jim Acosta, and many more.
